Can someone PLEASE help me with changing car seats?

First, my 4 year old is very tall, people mistake her for being 5 or even older but she hasn't quite reached the 40lb mark. She is probably 1 or 2 pounds shy of it. Can we change her to the booster seat? Her car seat seams to fit okay - the straps that go over her shoulders aren't high up like if she would have room to still grow but the straps can get a lot bigger.

Second, my son is 11 months, he'll be 1 on August 6th which is right around the Corner. He is over the 20lb mark, I think he weighs about 22lbs. He is very tall. He can in no way stretch his legs out and his head is about an inch from the top. Can we go ahead and put him in a forward facing car seat?

Thanks for the advice. Can someone PLEASE help me with changing car seats? Is she on the top spot for the harness straps? If so and the straps are below her shoulders then she is too big for the seat and needs to be put in either a taller seat of a high back booster.

this would be a good choice for a seat for her because it will turn into a high back and backless booster after harnessing to 65lbs

Your son should be put into a convertible car seat to allow him to stay rear facing because it is safer. He doesn't really need to have room to stretch out his legs and it is more comfortable for them to be able to cross their legs rather then having them dangle over the edge.

this is a good choice for your son because it will rear face to 35lbs and once he hits that it can be turned and he can remain harnessed till 65lbs

Yes, your fine.

My doctor said that if they go over the weight limit OR height (which ever comes first) to change car seats. I had to change my baby's car seat to a convertible one just when he was 10 months b/c he was a chunky boy.

For your daughter you should get her a booster seat that has the back still on it. But you buckle her up with the regular car seat belt.you know what i mean? My son is 5 now and only weighs 40 lbs.

Your doing it about the same time I did my kiddos and they've been safe.

The best bet for your daughter would be a booster seat with a back on it. I have a 5 year old who uses one. Even if she's tall, her head needs to be level with the head support on the front seat for her to use a backless booster seat.

Well, technically your son is supposed to be a year old before using a front facing car seat, but since he's pretty close to it, you could go ahead and put him in a front facing seat if you wanted to.
I would make the switch for both. But if you feel uncomfortable about it, go to your local fire house. Most fire department workers are educated and have taken classes about correct car seat procedures - I'm sure they'd be happy to take a look.
I am no expert. It sounds like your daughter is ready for a booster seat, but please see the links below. Also technically I think your son can be in a forward facing seat after age one, but some people believe that rear-facing is better for as long as possible.
take the 4 year old out of the car seat put her in the booster take the 11 mos. old put him the forward facing seat
