I just changed my car insurance and hit a poll with my car. It happened in a private parking lot so the cops said that would not come out. Now my new insurance company is asking for witness (it was late no winesses) and talking to my friends. i don't see why not. although after the claim they may cancel your insurance with them.

They will probably pay but they are going to investigate it to make sure you hadn't crashed before you got there insurance. Lots of people crash and then buy insurance and try to get them to pay for it after the fact. So they are just covering there bases................md
yes they will have to pay for the claim unless they can prove it happened b4 u bought policy....which is what they suspect....



basically if u have pictures of ur car not damaged b4 accident but since u bought policy send them to them.......



either way they will most likely cancel ur policy as soon as this is resolved....or double ur rates....
If they are asking for witnesses, it's probably an SIU adjuster (Special Investigating Unit). Insurance companies have an obligation to the public to weed out suspicious and fraudulent claims and a new policy holder who files a claim within a month of obtaining the policy can raise some red flags.



They'll likely help you with your car, they'll just do a very in depth investigation. Just be cooperative, give them a recorded statement, and your damages should get paid for.



Also, the insurance policy that was in force on the date of loss is the policy that will pay for it.
I'm in a similar situation. I requested my insurance be canceled, then rear ended somebody. My insurance was still active, they covered the loss. I've had the car less than 2 months, they inspected my car within 7days when i bought the car so they know the damage is new and i didn't purposely damage my car. Most insurance companies make u complete an inspection within a week or cancel service I'm sure they will be fine. As long as you hitting a poll is covered. It prob would have been helpful. They came out to see my car after i faxed them my police report and they wrote me a check the same day. but its written out to me and my lien holder.
They probably assume you were drunk.

Since it's a new policy, they have to run background checks on your car to make sure you didn't have this damage before. They will pay it.
