Hi,
I have a Nissan Maxima 2000 and it's tiem to change it's clutch. I jsut want to know what else do I need to change when I replace the clutch in the transmission???
ThanksChanging My car's Clutch? The usual parts - the disk, pressure plate, throwout bearing and pilot bearing - are the only ones you need to replace. Standard practice is to take the flywheel to have it resurfaced, but my dirty little secret is that I have never done that and have never had problems with it. But do clean the flywheel and new pressure plate with brake cleaner, and apply a film of anti-seize to the input shaft so the disk doesn't bind. BTW - be sure you have the plastic alignment tool if you want to keep your sanity when it is time to reinstall the transmission.
Optional - you may want to replace the clutch master and slave cylinders at this point rather than wait for one to fail. They are fairly expensive but are nearing the end of their life expectancy. The decision is yours - there is almost no labor overlap and cylinder failure won't hurt your clutch, just cripple your car for a day or so.Changing My car's Clutch?Nothing honestly just the clutch if your gana do it your self make sure your car is in neutral and that when your gone bleed out your tranny cylinder also none as your clutch slave cylinder if your gana take it to the shop that's just itChanging My car's Clutch? You always want to replace the pressure plate too. It will cost more but you'll save trouble down line. Also get the flywheel resurfaced and replace both the throwout and pilot bearings.autozone.com
