I always though it would be interesting to see what the really good drivers would do in the cars that dont run so well, and the not so good drivers drive the cars that do well. That would tell me if these guys that finish bad every week really know how to drive or if it is the car. For example: Put Gordon, Stewart, Johnson in someone like Pettys or dale jarrets car. Does anyone think that would be a good idea, just to see what happens? THe only reason I though about it is because I dont always think it is the driver. I beleive that sometimes it is the car and crew that make them finish bad.Drivers changing cars? That is an interesting idea. We all know it takes both the crew and the driver to run a good race. That is why the winner always gives credit to his crew members. It would be interesting to put the best drivers in a car at random and the other drivers in their car. I bet we would see some different results.Drivers changing cars?Though it will never happen, it is an interesting idea. I do think that there is something to what you say. I think there is a whole combination of factors involved with winning and losing teams and drivers.
Go Jr%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Drivers changing cars?I agree with you. Put the %26quot;so-called%26quot; greatest in the po boys cars and give the little guys real cars for a change.
Or how about this - give everybody the same equipment - exactly the same cars, engines, everything. Just sit back and watch the show. They would have one great race.
How about equal equipment and a superspeedway race without restrictor plates or maybe just let them go 30-40mph faster with a little tweeking. Back in the day, the good old boys raced Daytona and averaged 170mph+. I would love to see that considering how much safer the barriers are, the COT's have the foam in the doors, the HANS, the safety harnesses designs have been improved etc... I know I am dreaming but Daytona is my superbowl!!!I've always wondered this same thing, and I think its a great idea, but it will never happen.
BUT look at Mark Martin. He went from being a top dog at Roush, to driving for a brand new, lower level team, and look how he's done! I bet had he not missed any races, he would be in the top 5 in points.
So I think that most of the time it depends on the driver, but there are some teams that just can't be helped, no matter who they put in the car.my wife says, the team owners are the cause because they fund the equipment that the drivers and teams need to succeed, therefore its not the driver but the owner who causes these discrepancies. i disagree , i believe a good driver can finish well even with crappy equipment, they just cant be forced to every week such as theresa expects jr to do week in and week out.It is a mixture of good car, good crew, good driver and good luck.Look at Mark Martin's replacement in the 6 car. That was a chase car last year. Now? a back marker at best. There is part of the answer.I don't care about the question, my beef with you is why did you chose not to capitalize Dale Jarret. I could understand missing one of the capital letters but both?? Come on. He is a true champion who has done more for Nascar than the other 3 you mention combined.Well, to give you an idea of if it is the car or the driver, look at the IROC races. All cars are as identical as possible, and the top drivers still dominate.Yes IROC is like that and sadly so is Cup racing next year with the idiotic COT. A sad day for true race fans.u r right .. good idea. now to c it happen? wake up gorgeous .. last nt was too good to u.. your dream is a big one..Put Gordon and or Stewart in most any car in the field and by the mid point of the event they would have it running top 10 or 15.Maybe not as a contender but good and steady.might do wellI agree with you. For an example, Michael Waltrip got his only wins with DEI. He was an allstar with that team. When left and went to Bill Davis Racing, he never got a win or a top 5 or 10 again. He also missed 3 races. He know owns his own team. if it wasn't for what happened at Daytona he would be doing a hell of a lot better than now. He got 1 Top 10 this year. This goes to show you that it isn't the driver. It is the crew, cars, and team Michael gets.
