Changing my car radio, I dont know how?
I just got a honda civic ex 03 and it had a new stereo in it but I also have a honda civic 92 that i just changed the radio for my bday and I like that stereo more but I cant figure out how to take the stereos out and switch them, can someone help?Changing my car radio, I dont know how?you will need to find two keys to unlock the head unit from the mounting sleeve. If you still have all of the original equipment that came in your new car stereo box (for your 92) you should find a pair in there. If not you can ask your local car installation shop if they have a couple you can buy. I'm sure they have plenty laying around. If so, I'd recommend swapping in a 4A-GE to get the injectors. There's hardly any performance parts available for the 4A-C, the twin cam motor is considerably more powerful, and used 4A-GE motors are not all that expensive - even the 20 valve version. And modifying your manifold for injectors can easily cost as much as a complete 4A-GE. I spent $600 having a carbureted manifold reworked for EFI myself.
Note that you'll also need to upgrade the fuel pumps and the rest of the fuel system to deliver fuel at a higher pressure. about two months ago i bought a used 07 g35 from infinity dealer and owe about $10,000. and the financing bank is chase. I have a 1996 grand am, and i'd like to get my power steering fluid drained and new put in. I took it a mechanic and he said the fluid did not smell healthy, and that it smelled burned. (my car was/is making a noise whenever I turn, so I was getting it checked out) and i'd also like my car lubed up. So after I got home I took out my rachet %26amp; socket set, and a pair of long handled pliers out and removed the entire power steering reservoir unit and emptied it.
Then I refilled it with the correct Dexron III ATF fluid and Thank the Lord the noise was gone! but I did learn some important lessons...bec you can imagine what the replacement costs %26quot;might%26quot; have been!

Search, Metra audio or Scosche,go to their site and input you vehicle info to find the right harness. Both companies sell the plastic install kits too. Once you have the harness simply wire the new stereo to the corresponding colors on the adapter harness. you are lucky that you have a MIL who wants to babysitI had the same problem, I just used the baby carrier and buckled the baby in myself so that I know that my baby was save in the carRear facing until 1 year AND 20 lbs, front facing til 40lbs, booster until 6 AND 60 lbs, but truthfully they can stay in it much longer because they can see out, most kids hate staring at the back of your seat or the bottom part of the door, so beyond the weight and age restrictions I'd also make sure they can sit comfortably on the seat with just the belt before you remove the booster, it's just a booster, so it's your car's seat belt that holds them in, so it's not a safety thing there. Good luck, and if you need more details see your local sheriff or highway patrol, they are too happy to give you the correct info... and sometimes even have a program to help you get cheap or free carseats and boosters. you are lucky that you have a MIL who wants to babysitI had the same problem, I just used the baby carrier and buckled the baby in myself so that I know that my baby was save in the carRear facing until 1 year AND 20 lbs, front facing til 40lbs, booster until 6 AND 60 lbs, but truthfully they can stay in it much longer because they can see out, most kids hate staring at the back of your seat or the bottom part of the door, so beyond the weight and age restrictions I'd also make sure they can sit comfortably on the seat with just the belt before you remove the booster, it's just a booster, so it's your car's seat belt that holds them in, so it's not a safety thing there. Good luck, and if you need more details see your local sheriff or highway patrol, they are too happy to give you the correct info... and sometimes even have a program to help you get cheap or free carseats and boosters. But it still shifts hard...it's common in old Hondas. The 67Bronco guy above me doesn't know what he's talking about...our cars don't have transmission fluid filters, so you don't even have to drop the pan.
Before you start, make sure you have plenty of Honda ATF - Z1 fluid as this is the only fluid you want to run in your transmission.
Make sure your car is at operating temperature and remove the transmission drain plug. It is on the passenger side, near the tire. While the fluid is draining, clean all the nasty gunk off of the plug. Those are metal shavings. When it's all drained out, put the plug back up and fill it back with however much came out. I forgot how much it holds. Drive the car around for a little bit, the repeat the process.
You want to repeat this drain/fill process at least 3 times here's why: the torque converter has about 1/3 of your fluid stored in there that doesn't drain out of the pan. When you drain and fill it like this it gives a chance for that old fluid to mix with the new, so you can get most of the old out by the 3rd or 4th cycle.
Remember that you check honda transmission fluid level when the fluid is hot, but the car is off. And always run it through the gears first to get an accurate reading!

You want to repeat this drain/fill process at least 3 times here's why: the torque converter has about 1/3 of your fluid stored in there that doesn't drain out of the pan. When you drain and fill it like this it gives a chance for that old fluid to mix with the new, so you can get most of the old out by the 3rd or 4th cycle.
Remember that you check honda transmission fluid level when the fluid is hot, but the car is off. And always run it through the gears first to get an accurate reading!

Screeching noise coming from my car--something to do with transmission fluid?
I have a 2000 Honda Civic with 130,000 miles on it (it's been mostly a commuter car). A family member recently borrowed it for a few weeks, and said it was making horrible noises and took it in and got the front brakes replaced. He said that the mechanic said we should also get our transmission fluid changed.
Just a few days ago (about 2 weeks since the brakes were changed) it started making horrible screeching noises when we back up, or even just regularly driving. Is this because we need our transmission fluid changed or something else?
I've read that getting the transmission fluid changed on cars with high mileage can actually do damage to the car--if this is true, what am I supposed to do? Keep driving with the old fluid or is there another option?

Most auto parts stores will check the battery, alternator and belt for freesounds like your alternator has given up the ghost, go to autozone and have the charging system checked out, the only way they could have done something wrong was to put the negative cable on the positive terminal by mistake and then try to hook up the positive cable to the negative terminal, that would more than likely fry your alternator.I had the same problem with my car. It kept dying everytimeI would cut the car off and it turned out to be the battery cables.

At first the battery may still have a charge in it but it will refuse to take a recharge.
Be sure to check if you got a fresh battery off the factory less than 6 months old!If the battery terminals were inadvertently hooked up backwards, damage to the alternator may occur. Usually blows the diodes in the alternator. It will not charge with a bad diode.

Why does my car keep blowing the ignitio fuse?
i drive a 99 grand am se, car had no cruise control on it and how ever i had a whole new column put in my car that has the cruise buttons on the wheel since the column has been changed my car will not start and keeps blowing the #5 fuse under the hood its for the igniton.

Drivers changing cars?
I always though it would be interesting to see what the really good drivers would do in the cars that dont run so well, and the not so good drivers drive the cars that do well. That would tell me if these guys that finish bad every week really know how to drive or if it is the car. For example: Put Gordon, Stewart, Johnson in someone like Pettys or dale jarrets car. Does anyone think that would be a good idea, just to see what happens? THe only reason I though about it is because I dont always think it is the driver. I lost my VW key fob, and while I think it's somewhere in my apartment building and that I have trustworthy neighbors, I'm still worried about it getting stolen. I was wondering what the whole process is for changing the locks on a VW. Will they have to re-program the internal computer? How much would replacing the locks cost? Any information that can be offered would be appreciated.I lost my VW key fob. Does anyone know the process for changing the locks on the car?Depending upon the year, some VW's only have a driver's door key lock and a trunk lock. If it is a late model with the immobelizer, then if your concern is strickly to prevent the car from being stolen, then just get another key cut and with the remaining keys/fobs, have them programmed to the vehicle. This will prevent the car from being started, but won't prevent them from getting inside the car. You can just replace the drivers door cylinder (if its a late model VW) that comes with its own key and if you're still worried about them getting into the car thru the trunk, disable the trunk (boot) cylinder. I've done this for people and it seems to work well. Most insurance companies will not pay to have the locks replaced.
VW sells a set of locks that are keyed alike: ignition, door, glove box and trunk, but they aren't cheap and depending upon the year of the car you expect to spend anywhere from 1.0 to 3.5 hours of labour at the posted rate, plus the lock set. Lock sets run anywhere from 100.00+ up!
As I said earlier, the best thing I think, is to replace the door lock(s), reprogramme the keys to the car, thus eliminating the possible use of your lost key to steal the vehicle. You can disable the trunk lock so that only the key fob or the trunk switch can open the trunk (boot).
The lock set would require the removal of the door handle(s) to replace the lock, the trunk lock would have to be removed (remove the noise liner on the trunk lid to gain access to the lock retainer and linkage), pop the lock from the glove box door, but the big thing is removal and replacement of the ignition lock cylinder. If you replace the lock in the ignition, you will have to reprogramme the keys to the computer; you cannot do this, it will have to be done by the dealership or a VW specialist that has the VAG scanner with the correct software and is familiar with the proceedure.

If your name is written in the back of it, you MUST change it over and wait on the title before you can sell it. (Unless you find a buyer who will buy it without a title)
If not, you may be able to sell it as if you are the original owner...but if %26amp; only if the only thing that appears on the back of the title is the registered owners signature.
There cant be multiple transfers or anything like that.
And you would have to fake a bill of sale pretending to be the original owner.

How can i change stock car radio but still have the steering wheel controls work?
I just bought a 1998 monte carlo, and while i love a good tape deck, i need a cd player in there. but i love steering my wheel controls but cant seem to find anything anywhere that says how to make them work with a new unit. I had a similar problem with my acura. im sure this all may depend on what stereo im going to be putting in there, but has anyone been able to achieve these results?How can i change stock car radio but still have the steering wheel controls work?They are many companies that make adapters that will integrate the steering wheel controls into a new aftermarket unit. You just have to make sure your car's wiring has the ability to be controlled by something other than the factory radio and, if you purchase a new unit, that it has a wired remote input on the back of the unit.
For that, there are not too many units out there available for that and it may take some research on your part to find both a unit that can do a wired control and a part to integrate your controls.

Changing insurance to keep a car on campus?
i'm in college and i need to keep my car on campus for a few months. i am living in an apartment on campus but the car is registered at my house. do i need to change anything on the insurance? or can i keep it the way it is, since it's only temporary? i live in pennsylvania.Changing insurance to keep a car on campus?Anything more than 30 days you should notify the company regarding the change in the garaged location. I had the battery changed on my '96 Explorer last week, from an Interstate to a Motorcraft. Maybe it's my imagination or some other problem but I've noticed a tremendous increase in static while listening to may favorite local AM talk-radio station.
Any possibility that the change of brand could be the cause? They will have resources to help you.You should have called the police when the accident occured. You may have a tough time without an accident report, but my advice is to see a lawyer. We did this test in physics where we crashed cars into walls and other cars. I was wondering how you would explain what happens during a car crash, and what variables can you change to change the car crash. I know that mass and acceleration are two variables. 1) A body at rest will remain at rest and a body in motion will remain in motion in a straight line until acted upon by an outside force.
---When a car crashes into something, even if the front part of the car has been stopped, the back part of the car is continuing in a straight line. This is why cars crumple in.
2) Force = Mass times Acceleration
The greater the mass of the crashing car, the greater the resulting force. Same thing for the Acceleration. The more acceleration inherent in the car, the greater the force. Of course, if two cars are heading straight for each other, the Accelerations are added. Which is why head-on collisions are so frightful.
3) For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. If the car exerts a force on a wall, then the wall exerts an equal and opposite force back onto the car. (Otherwise the car wouldn't get damaged at all.
That's probably the main thing your teacher's wanting to get you to understand.
But here are a few other things that could be taught when discussing collisions:
--Heat created by the friction of the two cars smashing into each other.
--Coefficients of friction if the car tried to break before the impact.
--Projectile and trajectory if there was someone in the car who gets thrown out of the car.
