Changing the car into my name?

So...

I have a 2006 Toyota...Its loan is from Toyota financial services...

I got it when I was 16...I have been paying the payment in checks...the checks are from my moms and I joint account...

Now that I'm 18...I want to put it in my name...I'm hoping to join the military so this needs to get done...

Of course...I have no credit...

I'm still paying the loan on it...

How can I get it in my name?...

My payments are $266...

Since It will go in my name and I have no credit...

How much will my payments change?...Changing the car into my name?Without credit the title, which is the collateral for the loan, will have to stay in your mother's name since it was bought using her credit rating. Once it's paid off it can go in your name.
Changing the car into my name?
Don't know if loan co. will let you as you have no credit rating.

At least for your first car. With the economy the way it is, they might think twice. Leave it alone and make your payments the way you are now.

Changing my car radio, I dont know how?

I just got a honda civic ex 03 and it had a new stereo in it but I also have a honda civic 92 that i just changed the radio for my bday and I like that stereo more but I cant figure out how to take the stereos out and switch them, can someone help?Changing my car radio, I dont know how?you will need to find two keys to unlock the head unit from the mounting sleeve. If you still have all of the original equipment that came in your new car stereo box (for your 92) you should find a pair in there. If not you can ask your local car installation shop if they have a couple you can buy. I'm sure they have plenty laying around. Once you remove it your existing radio in your 92 should slide right into the 03 mounting sleeve.

you pretty much have to take the whole dash off.. have fun.

Process in changing the title to a car?

I live in ILLinois and i want to know if I buy this car from my friend, what is the process I must go through to chnge the title and get insurance and plates etc? Please help me. I have no idea and don't want to talk to my dad about it until I know that facts. I am 20 and clueless.Process in changing the title to a car?Pretty much what oklatom said.
Process in changing the title to a car?
How to Transfer the Title

The seller should sign the title over to the buyer on the back of the title certificate, filling in the odometer statement. Be sure to fill in the buyer's name correctly鈥昳t will need to match the name on the application for the new title.

When applying for a new title for a vehicle you've just bought, you'll need the surrendered title you got from the seller. You'll also need one of two forms (see bellow), depending on whether you intend to register the vehicle at the same time (in most cases, you will).

Unfortunately, neither of these forms are available for download, but you can pick them up at any Secretary of State office that offers motor vehicle services. You can also call (800) 252-8980 and request that the necessary forms be mailed to you.
Process in changing the title to a car?
Your friend signs the title and gives it to you. You take the signed title and car down the department of motor vehicles and they will help you with getting it registered and the title changed to your name.
Begain make sure it a clear title, then you both go to gether and get the title notarized, or just one of you, that way M.V.D, see that person signing the title over to you. Now here in Az, you take the plates off after you sold the car and turn, them over to M.V.D. it clears your ower ship of it. And go from there.
talk to your dad he will tell you the right thing to do. but if you don't want to you and your friend go to tax office and they will help you change the title and plates. insurance call allstate or someone like that . good luck

Can I change my car into a fuel injector?

I have a AE82 and I'm about to street tune it, I wanna put a ECU in it, so do I have to drop a engine in it or can I just take the engine I have now and install fuel injectors? Can I change my car into a fuel injector? You've got a 4A-C in there, right? If so, I'd recommend swapping in a 4A-GE to get the injectors. There's hardly any performance parts available for the 4A-C, the twin cam motor is considerably more powerful, and used 4A-GE motors are not all that expensive - even the 20 valve version. And modifying your manifold for injectors can easily cost as much as a complete 4A-GE. I spent $600 having a carbureted manifold reworked for EFI myself.

Note that you'll also need to upgrade the fuel pumps and the rest of the fuel system to deliver fuel at a higher pressure. Carburetors don't need the same amount of fuel pressure as injected cars.

Is it possible to trade a car still in finance?

about two months ago i bought a used 07 g35 from infinity dealer and owe about $10,000. and the financing bank is chase. This was first time i got finance so i don't really know how this works. the question is, is it possible to trade private? i mean is it possible to change the car straight across with someone and make the payment for my infinity after i trade my car?Is it possible to trade a car still in finance? No that is not allowed in any country.

If a vehicle is on finance the car belongs to finance company so you can not sell it until the remaining balance owing to them is paid off.

You can ask them for a settlement figure which is minus most of the interest because your paying it off earlier then taken on for. Some finance company's will only let you pay off the balance after 6 months.

In the U.S.A. they take your equity and use it as a down payment.

Is it possible to trade a car still in finance?
In the UK, and this is asked on the UK and Ireland part of YA, it is possible but the dealer would pay off the finance from the value of the car and deduct it from the amount available. Until it is paid it does not become the dealers property so they insist on that.

I guess the US will be the same
Yes it is as long as that other person can qualify for the loan then they can take over the payments under a new loan................
I dont think that would be allowed//

How often should i change my car tyres?

i bought a peugeot (new) in november 06 and wondered how often the tyres should be changed? and are they under warantee? How often should i change my car tyres?Tires are a wear item, so they are not covered under any warrantee. Generally tires will last about 60,000-75,000 miles depending on the type. Make sure you rotate the tires.
How often should i change my car tyres?
You should get new tires when the tread is wearing down.

    Power steering fluid changed/car lubed?

I have a 1996 grand am, and i'd like to get my power steering fluid drained and new put in. I took it a mechanic and he said the fluid did not smell healthy, and that it smelled burned. (my car was/is making a noise whenever I turn, so I was getting it checked out) and i'd also like my car lubed up. Can anybody give me an estimated cost of this?Power steering fluid changed/car lubed?I had similar noise myself and how it happened was I did NOT CAREFULLY READ the top of the Power Steering Unit Cap and/or my Owner's Manual.

    Anyway I made the dumb mistake after having looked %26amp; seeing my Power Steering Fluid level was low, then picking up a red plastic bottle of Prestone Power Steering Fluid and pouring some in without %26quot;doing the above!%26quot;

Then like a few days later as I was driving and turning the corners in the underground garage at work and all I could hear was a clicking or strange noise with each turn as I rounded the corners. I went to my mechanic but they were busy and backed up for the day...

So after I got home I took out my rachet %26amp; socket set, and a pair of long handled pliers out and removed the entire power steering reservoir unit and emptied it.

Then I refilled it with the correct Dexron III ATF fluid and Thank the Lord the noise was gone! but I did learn some important lessons...bec you can imagine what the replacement costs %26quot;might%26quot; have been!

Don't Know How Long Your PS Noise Has Been but Hope the Above Info Helps!
    Power steering fluid changed/car lubed?
Jiffy lube will do the lube for free. You can drain the power steering fluid yourself for about one or two dollars.
    Power steering fluid changed/car lubed?
Because there isn't a large volume of oil in the PS system of most newer cars, the fluid runs a lot hotter and often turns a very dark color and smells burnt. The color change is both a result of the higher temperatures and particles that accumulate from the moving members of the pump itself.

The cost of flushing the system will vary greatly from shop to shop - so, best if you just get a couple of estimates.

I would guess between 75-100 dollars to flush and refill the system.

Note - this service may or may not eliminate your noise when the vehicle is turned.
Power steering flush at my shop is 70 dollars

    Oil change 25

Lube only w/o oil change 10

Oh, and dont try to change the fluid yourself, it's inexpensive at a shop and way more thorough.

Why did they make car jacks for changing tires so difficult?

most jacks you have to wind your hand in a clock like motion to get the jack to lift the car up what happened to the simple up and down easy way from a few years ago? makes no since to me what was this person thinking when he invented this type of jack. Why did they make car jacks for changing tires so difficult?the jacks of yesterday would tear the bumper off of today's car. A scissors jack is the only thing small enough to get under the axle of a car
Why did they make car jacks for changing tires so difficult?
well think about it...it would make since to make wheels hard to get off so they wont fall off easily while you're drivin
Why did they make car jacks for changing tires so difficult?
I agree. Sometimes I buy another jack and use it instead. If everyone purchased their car based on the virtues of the tire jack, you can bet they would be gold-plated works of art with functionality to match.
The process of saving weight resulted in innovations which inconvenience the driver who tries to change a tire.
The jack you are talking about is a bumper jack. Most modern cars do not have sturdy steel bumpers anymore so you will have to live with 'progress.'
Because too many idiots forgot to put the bumper jack on the %26quot;chink%26quot; where they were supposed to, and the jack failed and the car fell down and the idiots sued the car companies - the newer jacks are safer.
its a cheap and effective way of doing the survivorman thing for changing a tire, they suck, i haul my own jack around
Man designed them, lol. Me personally, I would like to see an hydraulic design.

  • SHould I buy the ethanol kit to change my car to run on ethanol?

There are several gas stattions in town that sell E85. Is it practical? Are there any concerns that I may not be aware of?SHould I buy the ethanol kit to change my car to run on ethanol? No.

    1. I don't know which conversion kit you are talking about, but ethanol is highly corrosive. I doubt that any conversion kit will protect your engine/fuel lines, pumps, etc. unless you car was specifically built for dual E85-regular gas.

    2. Even though your town has E85, E85 is still rare for most of the country, nixing any road trip ideas.

    3. E85 gets worse MPG than gasoline (as stated here) so even if you're car would run the E85, the money you save may not pay for the cost of the conversion kit.

    4. If you think gas prices will keep rising, you should think of buying some stock in Valeo (VLO), one of the biggest US companies that refines gasoline. At least then you can make some money off of high gas prices.
SHould I buy the ethanol kit to change my car to run on ethanol?
PS, I've been checking out some of the sites that sell conversion kits....some reek of SCAM....so be careful.

    Naturally, YMMV.

SHould I buy the ethanol kit to change my car to run on ethanol?
Your car will get less mpg while running ethanol or E-85.
To answer this quisition I have to know what kind of car.

But in most cases no . Unless your car cas made to run on E85 buying a kit to make it wun on this stuff is in my face foolish.

Also I know of no such kit to do this

I just received a ticket for changing in the car?

I was butt naked sitting in the car driving down a road that no one hardley ever goes down when he saw me...I pulled off my dress and didn't have on any panties today and the dress didn't require a bra so I pulled it off real quick to change into another dress........should I plead guilty or not guilty?I just received a ticket for changing in the car?I would not plead guilty just yet. Get a lawyer. Were you driving while you were changing? When he pulled you over, were you at all covered up? There are a lot of questions. Never plead guilty until you talk with a lawyer. You DO NOT want this type of charge on your record.
I just received a ticket for changing in the car?
    you said you were %26quot;driving down a road%26quot;

so, that tells me your car was moving, so changing while driving is careless driving (VERY careless) whether you show nudity or not.

now, if you pulled over and was changing while you were stopped, well, that's a different story and more detail would be needed.

though, what did he ticket you for exactly?

i know it sounds generic, but contacting a lawyer will be your best bet
I just received a ticket for changing in the car?
ROTFLMFAO-Just when i thought i heard it all?

Well at least it was not for %26quot;INDECENT EXPOSURE%26quot; which was pretty decent of the officer.

Count your as setts and plea guilty, unless you want to make the Judges day and reenact the crime in the court room?
Its never a bad idea to see a laywer, but i think you will find he will tell you to plead gulity.

As silly as this may sound a car on a public road is considered a public place and the nudity charge is related to a public place.

If you do contest the matter the magistrate will look at the public issue and you may also find that the officer who dealt with you may further charge you with driving with undue care and attention.

Personally i'f i had pulled you over i would have given you a caution, not all bad things are really that bad. ( I so wish i'd been that cop. it would have made my day) :p

How do you change a car stereo for a 98 mustang?

I need help switching out my old stereo for a JCV stereo in a 98 mustang; hooking up the wires, anything, any kind of help would workHow do you change a car stereo for a 98 mustang?Using a wire harness adapter will make it a simple job. You may even find the one you need at Walmart for about $10. Best Buy %26amp; Circuit City sell them also. Scosche and Metra are both companies that sell harness adapters for your car. There are a few different harness adapters for your year Mustang, I recommend you remove your stock stereo and take a good luck at the factory plugs then go online and verify which one you need. Search, Metra audio or Scosche,go to their site and input you vehicle info to find the right harness. Both companies sell the plastic install kits too. Once you have the harness simply wire the new stereo to the corresponding colors on the adapter harness. Be advised if you have a Premium Mach system there are a few more issues that need to be addressed.

My mother n law wants to take my child with her in a car seat, but she has it front facing, my child is 7 wks?

Should I let her take him or make her change the car seat to rear facing? My mother n law wants to take my child with her in a car seat, but she has it front facing, my child is 7 wks?Do not let your child go with her unless she switches him to facing the rear. This is the law in most states, and even if it is not the law in your state, you're the Mom, you decide what's best. Do not put your baby in danger or let your mother-in-law do so; put your pretty little new mommy foot down! and good luck :)

gently tell her its positioned wrong and show her how to position it correctly

make a joke of it that you yourself didnt know it was wrong until someone told you

you are lucky that you have a MIL who wants to babysit
I had the same problem, I just used the baby carrier and buckled the baby in myself so that I know that my baby was save in the car
Rear facing until 1 year AND 20 lbs, front facing til 40lbs, booster until 6 AND 60 lbs, but truthfully they can stay in it much longer because they can see out, most kids hate staring at the back of your seat or the bottom part of the door, so beyond the weight and age restrictions I'd also make sure they can sit comfortably on the seat with just the belt before you remove the booster, it's just a booster, so it's your car's seat belt that holds them in, so it's not a safety thing there. Good luck, and if you need more details see your local sheriff or highway patrol, they are too happy to give you the correct info... and sometimes even have a program to help you get cheap or free carseats and boosters. Make sure your Mother-In-Law understands and follows these laws, it's for the safety of your child. Good luck.
    CHILD CAR SEAT RULES

    2. 20–35 POUNDS CONVERTIBLE SEAT USED IN REAR-FACING POSITION, SECURED IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE CAR. LOOK FOR A CHILD SAFETY SEAT THAT IS RECOMMENDED FOR HEAVIER INFANTS.

    3. WHEN YOU ARE 1, 2, 3, AND 4 20–40 POUNDS FACE FORWARD IN A CONVERTIBLE SEAT OR A FORWARD-FACING-ONLY SEAT OR HIGH-BACK BOOSTER/HARNESS IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE CAR.

    5. WHEN YOU ARE 8, 9, 10, 11, OR 12 MORE THAN 4’9” (57 INCHES) TALL MAY USE AN ADULT SEATBELT, BUT MUST KEEP YOUR BACK AGAINST THE SEAT BACK, YOUR KNEES BENT OVER THE EDGE OF THE SEAT, AND YOUR FEET FLAT ON THE FLOOR IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE CAR.

    6. WHEN YOU ARE MORE THAN 12 YEARS OLD MORE THAN 4’9” (57 INCHES) TALL MAY SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OF THE CAR WITH AN ADULT SEATBELT.
THIS IS A VERY GOOD QUESTION.You are responsible for your child.I think you got most of the correct info. All I want to add is that whoever looks after the child should respect your wishes for everyones sake. Please ask and find out what is best and safest in any situation.A lot is good old common sense.Good luck from a father of 5.
OK , grandma may remember the way we did it before airbags and all cars had a full frame under them. So tell Grandma the new way to safely haul a baby. No harm or face lost
    she should change it..
It needs to be rearfacing. My parents and my inlaws are NOT allowed to take DD in the car because they won't buckle her correctly or use the seat correctly.
REAR FACING in the BACK SEAT.....If her car does not have a back seat, make sure it does not have air bags!! If it has air bags, make sure the one where the kid is is TURNED OFF.
You are very lucky to have a MIL to care so much. I live in Texas, I was a labor and Delivery R.N. and Director of a small OB ward for 15 yrs in Dallas. We were not allowed to even discharge an infant without a carseat rear facing backseat, completet instructions and reverse demonstration and understanding. During MVC the air bag can kill the infant in the front seat. I know you have received many answers, all great. The simple fact is politely tell her and demonstrate , safety and love are your main goals. She will be appreciative and receptive. I am 43 and now,a grandmother and MIL, I am Paralyzed now and unable to take my grandchildren in the car, this is how I know she will be receptive, Good Luck

I would take the bill of sales to your city office and let them know that the vehicle is sold. You should have signed over the title when you sold the vehicle. If she is driving on your old plates and it has been that long, she is driving illegally.
You should have removed your licence plate and all other personal property from the vehicle

Yes you are liable, until the car is not in your name.
You should have not allowed her to take your license plates. Since the car is still in your name, probably. I would go to the local police dept, explain your problem and ask them for a solution.

What exactly do i need to change my car to stick shift?

i have a 98 honda civic ex but im going to convert to a 2000si on the outside but i want to put a b18c in my carbut i need to also change the car from aautomaticto stick shift so what exactly would i need to do this. and how much would the parts cost? What exactly do i need to change my car to stick shift?clutch pedal; clutch master cylinder, manual gearbox;extended pedal rack;clutch cable; clutch plate;manual pressure plate;plenty of time and a best friend who is a good mechanic;or a mechanic who works cheap cos if you have never done an auto to manual conversion you are in for a s*** load of mucking about. good luck.
What exactly do i need to change my car to stick shift?
you need A LOT of parts and money. Ef owner here.
What exactly do i need to change my car to stick shift?
A standard transmission with appropriate adapters and a Sawsall.
Do you have at least $5,000 you want to spend?

Combination Clutch Brake Assembly, Linkage to go to the Bell Housing, Bell Housing, Clutch, Throwout Bearing, Flywheel, Transmission, Shift Linkage, Shifter, Drive Shaft Shortening or Lengthening, Speedometer hookup for the transmission, and Speedometer Calibration.

On top of that, any mechanic will charge about $60 an hour labor, and it is not a quick job.

It is smarter to sell the car and buy one that is a stick shift already. You will also need to have a new Transmission Crossmember and the brackets on the frame for it as the spacing is not the same as an automatic.
You need a different car that is set up like you want it.

the only feasible way to do this would be to have a donor car with a manual transmission and then you would essentially have to turn your car into it. The amount of changes needed are so extensive that you will be much better to just sell your car and buy a different one. Some of the things that may be different are your pedals of course since you need to add a clutch pedal. The steering column is often different, computer may be affected since auto transmissions provide data to the computer. Depending on the vehicle the engine mounts may be different, What you are suggesting is VERY complicated, not like it was in the 1960's.

My girlfriend's step-farther said that it adds several horsepower to your engine and he does it all the time. Is this correct? Also, I will be getting a Dodge Ram 1500 (v8 Magnum) within weeks. Can I use the %26quot;plus%26quot; fuel on this aswell ro stick with regular unleaded?Changing the gas my car uses?Use the owner's manual as a bible. You won't notice any performance change but you will notice the cost if you use a higher grade than the engine requires. Octaine is figured by the people who built the engine; follow their recommendation.
Changing the gas my car uses?
Won't hurt it at all. However, any horsepower gain will not be noticeable.

Kind of a waste of money really, unless you car requires it.
Changing the gas my car uses?
OK, First of all, it will NOT ADD HP! Period. It will run fine.

    Let me explain:

The octane rating of gasoline tells you how much the fuel can be compressed before it spontaneously ignites. When gas ignites by compression rather than because of the spark from the spark plug, it causes knocking in the engine. Knocking can damage an engine, so it is not something you want to have happening. Lower-octane gas (like %26quot;regular%26quot; 87-octane gasoline) can handle the least amount of compression before igniting.

The compression ratio of your engine determines the octane rating of the gas you must use in the car. One way to increase the horsepower of an engine of a given displacement is to increase its compression ratio. So a %26quot;high-performance engine%26quot; has a higher compression ratio and requires higher-octane fuel. The advantage of a high compression ratio is that it gives your engine a higher horsepower rating for a given engine weight -- that is what makes the engine %26quot;high performance.%26quot; The disadvantage is that the gasoline for your engine costs more.
the plus fuel only helps in high compression motors you will see no benefit..

that dodge will drink so much you will be wanting to use the cheapest fuel you can find for that pig..

buy a ford or Chevy instead
You can put in the plus if you want to, but you will only be spending your money, If your car or anyone else don't call for anything but regular then that is all you need. Putting in plus gas will not add any horsepower to an engine and in some cases could damage an engine, but that is not likely.
your girlfriend's step father is very wrong, but that is a common misrepresentation. The trick is to use the least amount of octane that doesn't make your car %26quot;knock%26quot;. Otherwise you are blowing your money. There is only 4-5 vehicles that require the higher octane (Porshe, Ferrari and cars like that). Your HP is set by your motor and its accessories, not the gas. The same amount of gas enters your cylinders no matter what type it is.
Follow your owners manual. In your case- the T-Bird- 87 ought to be fine. The general consensus is that if your car needs 89 or 91, use it, otherwise, use 87 octane.

What is better buying or leasing a car?

I own a corolla and i want to lower the monthly payments and change the car since by the time i'll finish paying for the car it will be old and start tp give me problems. in the other hand a least is just like a rent i think. Thank you for your answer. What is better buying or leasing a car?leasing or buying will not help you to get out from under that corolla, you will owe more than the corolla is worth so if you want to role that negative equity into the new loan it will increase your payment and make it alot more difficult to get financed.

Leasing is basically renting the car, most people will tell you its a terrible idea because you dont own the car, but if you buy a car with a loan you dont own that either, not until the ENTIRE loan is paid off. Generally speaking leasing will get you a lower payment, and you do have the option of buying the car at the end of the lease.

Two things to be sure of when leasing, be absolutely positive you will want to keep the car for the entire time of the lease, theres nothing worse than trying to turn a lease in early. The other thing is miles, again be absolutely sure you do not drive more miles than you lease allows, figure out how many miles you drive a year then increase that by 15%. Over miles charges will cost you a bundle when you go to turn that lease in.
What is better buying or leasing a car?
its depends on ones finances. for some people its better to lease and for others its better to buy
What is better buying or leasing a car?
I'd say the best thing to do is to buy a car and finance it directly with the company/dealer. Leasing is horrible, just like signing a lease for an apartment/home.
Leasing is great for some people (like me) and terrible for others. The important thing is to understand how leasing works so that you can figure out if it's right for you. Here's a web site that might help:

    http://www.leaseguide.com/lease01.htm

If you drive less than about 15K miles per year, like having a new car every 3-4 years that is always under warranty, and take good care of your cars, then leasing might work for you. Otherwise, don't do it.

2002 Dodge Stratus Radio doesnt work after battery changed in car?
i installed an aftermarket radio myself, the original (tape player) does not have any code ability, neither does the aftermarket (cd player). After having battery die, my radio wouldn't work. pulling out the constant power fuse fixed it. think it's some type of safety system.

  • Changing ATF on a old car? is there going to be any problem if i change the fluid in a honda 1997 accord lx?

im just afraid if i change the atf the car might not be able to handle the new things due to the fact the car is old? any advice.? thanksChanging ATF on a old car? is there going to be any problem if i change the fluid in a honda 1997 accord lx?I have a 95 accord I changed the fluid in and it helped a little. But it still shifts hard...it's common in old Hondas. The 67Bronco guy above me doesn't know what he's talking about...our cars don't have transmission fluid filters, so you don't even have to drop the pan.

Before you start, make sure you have plenty of Honda ATF - Z1 fluid as this is the only fluid you want to run in your transmission.

Make sure your car is at operating temperature and remove the transmission drain plug. It is on the passenger side, near the tire. While the fluid is draining, clean all the nasty gunk off of the plug. Those are metal shavings. When it's all drained out, put the plug back up and fill it back with however much came out. I forgot how much it holds. Drive the car around for a little bit, the repeat the process.

You want to repeat this drain/fill process at least 3 times here's why: the torque converter has about 1/3 of your fluid stored in there that doesn't drain out of the pan. When you drain and fill it like this it gives a chance for that old fluid to mix with the new, so you can get most of the old out by the 3rd or 4th cycle.

Remember that you check honda transmission fluid level when the fluid is hot, but the car is off. And always run it through the gears first to get an accurate reading!

    Have fun =]
Changing ATF on a old car? is there going to be any problem if i change the fluid in a honda 1997 accord lx?
Just drop the pan and change the filter. I don't recommend doing a power flush they can sometimes cause problems.
Changing ATF on a old car? is there going to be any problem if i change the fluid in a honda 1997 accord lx?
No, it will help the car if anything. I recently helped change the ATF on my cousins 1997 Accord. Car still runs just as good if not better.

When to change all the car hose?

how often should you change your car hoses or when do you change them I had my car for about 6yrs runs great including in and out of town driving. (141k miles 95 ford escort LX 1.9)

I take care of my car by doing prevenative maintenance.

right now I'm about to change the timing belt and water pump its been about 4yrs for the belt/and water pump so I'm thinking about replacing all the hose while I'm under the hood.

and soon I think about replacing the fuel pump this summer, Its been on my car ever since i had it I think that need to be replaced too before it cause me trouble even tho it seems fine.

or how often should you change a fuel pump anyway? When to change all the car hose?Anything rubber should be replace when it becomes more brittle than flexible. (or earlier if it is unusable for other reasons) For hoses, this typically means that when the start to show fine spider-cracking on the surface... (that way it doesn't develop into coarse fail-cracking)

Fuel pumps ought to be changed only when they die. Most after-market fuel pumps are of such poor quality that you're better off with your original old pump until it's dead.
When to change all the car hose?
If they appear cracked or worn replace
When to change all the car hose?
hoses should be changed if they show cracks or if they become soft to the touch like a ballon that kind of soft........fuel pumps on ford escort do not usually go bad, i've checked with ford and they tell me that they rarely go,i had an escort with 300000ks with the original pump and it never missed a beat

Is it true that we should change our car and wife when they start giving trouble?

Please do elaborate your candid views. thanks in advance. Is it true that we should change our car and wife when they start giving trouble?A friend's Jeep's heat/ air con stopped working for a long time now.. and he kept it.. + he had no extra cash to fix it..

I accidentally scratched my other friend's blue mustang, a week later he picked me up with his new blue mustang.

Depends how you define trouble, and if you have to extra $$ to change it.
Is it true that we should change our car and wife when they start giving trouble?
The newer models are more attractive and sleek but in the long run, those need a lot of money and up keep.
Is it true that we should change our car and wife when they start giving trouble?
I have to admit this made me laugh a little. but, I say no that isn't true

why bother getting married if you are just going to run when things become difficult. that is what happens when people date. marriage is a commitment which should be binding, not something that can just be traded in or tossed out.
    Don't be a child.
that's why guys prefer taking taxi and have girfriends ..!!
Please keep in mind that you depreciate as well with time, and sooner or later you end up in the scrapyard - alone.
What a dumbass question. Cars and women are exactly alike. Just put a tiny little bit of love and effort into them and they're the best thing in the world. Cars...change the oil every so often and it'll run for years. Women...a quick surprise note or a few kind words and she's yours forever.
If you can afford , you can change a car when ever it gives trouble as it is a machine with no feelings..But the second part is difficult. Women are not possessions , who can changed at will.Change can come with understanding and patience
well it could be true for a car because it takes very high maintenance and very controllable usage to use one single car throughout life, however, it's not true for a wife. No matter how good driver or care taker you are, a car might have to be replaced at least once or twice during your life, however, if you are really a good husband, then you can keep your wife for life time and she should be more than happy to spend her life with you. You just need to solve one question, why wife is giving trouble? Once you solve it, wife will be even more happy with you!

    answer mine:

    http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind鈥?/a>

you might get an answer in my question.
You can change your car or any of your materialistic belongings when they start troubling you or u getting bore of it, but wife is not a thing, she is an individual... u cant do such attitude withher.

See dont mind but i would suggest you that instead of marraying u should have opted for living relationships or dating all thruogh your life. As such relations dont demand long term and binding commitments....

What you can do now is : sit with your wife , try to resolve your issues calmly
See there is no problem if you change your car but if you are planning to change your wife then it will be a problem because you are not only letting her go from your life which may make you and your wife miserable.

So, never think of changing your wife try to notice the problem with her and just do repair her. Ok
No this is not fair bcoz we women not change the MAID %26amp; HUSBAND when they not follow our order's

Screeching noise coming from my car--something to do with transmission fluid?

I have a 2000 Honda Civic with 130,000 miles on it (it's been mostly a commuter car). A family member recently borrowed it for a few weeks, and said it was making horrible noises and took it in and got the front brakes replaced. He said that the mechanic said we should also get our transmission fluid changed.

Just a few days ago (about 2 weeks since the brakes were changed) it started making horrible screeching noises when we back up, or even just regularly driving. Is this because we need our transmission fluid changed or something else?

I've read that getting the transmission fluid changed on cars with high mileage can actually do damage to the car--if this is true, what am I supposed to do? Keep driving with the old fluid or is there another option?

Please help! We're poor newlywed college students and don't want to spend more money than we have to to get this fixed, but don't want the car to die on us either! Thanks!Screeching noise coming from my car--something to do with transmission fluid?no,it wont hurt anything to change the tranny fluid.i did and mine has over 100,000 miles and it didnt hurt my tranny, but it doesnt sound like its your tranny.it sounds like the brakes, orthe mechanic put the brakes on wrong.does it make noise just when you apply the brakes,if so then its in the brake system.

Give it a moment and hit the remote again or get in it and turn the ignition on.
that is for security reasons...every car has a different method of releasing that security lock...look in your manual or call your dealer..but try using your remote first
press the button.mabey your battery in the remote went bad to. it could happen.
when that happened to me i had to pull the fuse for the alarm and i could never use the alarm again until it was re-routed to a different fuse. try to pull it. otherwise disconnect the car batt. and have it towed to fix.
go to the dealer ship that's what i did !!!!!! WHAT YEAR
Usually you need to just turn the key in the ignition.
Lady you should never work on a car yourself. You should let some he-man guy do the work. Your problem seems to be the solenoid not analoging the positive field while the sump pump is being engaged. Those darn engagements, don't get me talking! Shoot I was engaged to a girl for a year one summer before I found out I had married her the Christmas before last! It's the same thing with your alarm, it'll stop Christmas before next just you wait and see. And please don't worry your little female self.

Can a mistake on battery changing cause electrical problems in a car?

I have Nissan Sentra 2002. I recently had my battery changed. The new battery died after few days. I went back to the shop and they put a new battery. The new battery died again. I went back again to the shop and now they are telling me that my car has electrical problem that drawn the battery down. My car has no problem before I got the battery changed. So I am wondering if a mechanical mistake in changing the battery can cause electrical problem. Can a mistake on battery changing cause electrical problems in a car?Only if done while battery in car, and still connected to your system.
Can a mistake on battery changing cause electrical problems in a car?
hooking up the wrong terminals will cause other problems

because dc current acts that way -- guess the alternator

    and/or points got fried
Can a mistake on battery changing cause electrical problems in a car?
the alternator gave up. do not go at the same shop.
YES you have a problem be it a %26quot;drain%26quot; or %26quot;short%26quot; in the system or just the alternator is gone bad ,and the shop that did the diagnosing of the problem should of told you that 'but they are only taking your CASH!!!
it sounds like the alternator is getting ready to go. call up your local parts store or quick lube. most of them will have free battery and alternator analysis machines
Sometimes. It is more likely that you have a faulty alternator. They tend to go bad by shutting down when the engine warms up. The result is that when the engine is cold, the battery recharges, When the engine is hot it soesn't charge the battery, and eventually stops charging all together.

Another possible cause is a faulty alternator belt. If a belt get glazed, it will slip just enough to keep the alternator light off but wont charge the battery. Most auto parts stores will check the battery, alternator and belt for free
sounds like your alternator has given up the ghost, go to autozone and have the charging system checked out, the only way they could have done something wrong was to put the negative cable on the positive terminal by mistake and then try to hook up the positive cable to the negative terminal, that would more than likely fry your alternator.
I had the same problem with my car. It kept dying everytimeI would cut the car off and it turned out to be the battery cables.

I changed them both and no more problems
Why did the battery need changed to begin with? Chances are they didn't hook something up right when it was changed or the problem existed prior to the battery being changed you just didn't realize it. See if you have a place that can check the electrical and give you an estimate they will generally tell you what is wrong before you agree to having them fix it and it shouldn't cost alot if anything. Good luck!
Check the date of manufacture on that new battery they just sold you.

New batteries have a shelf life of only 6 months. They need to be used within that time. This is because lead acid batteries are already starting to very slowly lose their charge right after manufacture. After 6 months, the chemicals in the battery start to sulfate (collect a sludge) and some of the battery cells start to die off. At first the battery may still have a charge in it but it will refuse to take a recharge.

Be sure to check if you got a fresh battery off the factory less than 6 months old!
If the battery terminals were inadvertently hooked up backwards, damage to the alternator may occur. Usually blows the diodes in the alternator. It will not charge with a bad diode.

How much should i sell my broken down car for?

I have a 1984 corolla diesel that barely runs now due to the oil never being changed. the car only had 90,000 miles and is in great condition inside and out. How much should i price this for on craigslist. ThanksHow much should i sell my broken down car for?Realistically, if you can get someone to give you $150 for it, as is, I think you'd be doing well. I would say if you don't get any good bites on an ad with that price, you may as well take what they'll give you at the wrecking yard. A car that age; if it's not in good running order, is mostly only desired for parts. Even if it ran good, you'd probably only be able to get between 6 %26amp; $800.

if u dont need the money---donate it to a charity to give to people that need it. (the ms society)
How much should i sell my broken down car for?
    $120 if u fix it.

$60 dollars in its current condition.
My guess would be around $500-1500. It all depends on the area you live in, because I know in the Boston area it would be more expensive than compared to somewhere in Alabama. I know they say Corollas last forever, but my guess is that it wont last much longer. Good Luck!
Honestly, you'd be best off selling it for scrap at a local junker- steel is going for a lot these days, and I doubt you would get less than $400 for that make. I would also check in with a local pick-and-pull style autoyard, if the interior and body are in the condition you indicated they may offer slightly more.
Advertise it on alternative fuel message boards. Diesels, especially Toyota diesels are rare and in high demand. It is in poor shape but someone will be willing to fix it. Ask for at least $1000.
Did you change the oil? my guess would be if you had the sludge cleaned out of the oil pan, and got the fuel injectors serviced, it would probably run OK.... then you could sell it for 500.00-1000.00

    as it is probably 100.00-200.00

Can I either get a refund or credit applied towards a new policy if I cancel my current insurance?

Here are the specific details: I paid the premium from my current vehicle in whole, which is 6 months. Now, It's only been about 2 months into the coverage but I am considering changing cars (buying a new one). IF I were to sell this car and get a new one, can I get the balance of what I paid into the policy back? By the way, I have nationwide. i know I could ask them but it's midnight and i am too lazy to call so ill hassle you folks. Can I either get a refund or credit applied towards a new policy if I cancel my current insurance?usually the insurance policy is transferred from one car to anouther - so I guess a credit like you say. You will pay any extra or they will refund any difference
Can I either get a refund or credit applied towards a new policy if I cancel my current insurance?
Yup, you sure do. It's your money. You prepay the insurance policy in advance, but you only get charged for the number of days you have used so far. They send you a refund check for what you haven't used.

The same thing will happen if you prepay any utility bill. If you send the power company $200, use $55 worth of electricity then cancel service, they will send you a check for $145.

Now, if you're just changing cars and want to keep the policy, they can do that. You don't need to end your policy unless you want to switch insurance companies.

It will take a few weeks for the refund check to show up. Don't go making plans for that money until you have it in hand :)
Can I either get a refund or credit applied towards a new policy if I cancel my current insurance?
Insurance does not do refunds, it merely transfers.
If you sold your car and added the new one, it's called a %26quot;subsitution%26quot;.

If you keep the same coverages and the new car doesn't take a higher %26quot;rating symbol%26quot; on comp and collision, then there would be no premium due; however, if the new car takes a higher symbol, then you would owe a pro-rated additional premium.
By law an insurance company has to return %26quot;unearned premium%26quot; which is money you have paid in advance for coverage you haven't used yet. If you're staying with the same insurer, the balance will apply to the new vehicle coverage.

Why does my car keep blowing the ignitio fuse?

i drive a 99 grand am se, car had no cruise control on it and how ever i had a whole new column put in my car that has the cruise buttons on the wheel since the column has been changed my car will not start and keeps blowing the #5 fuse under the hood its for the igniton.

anyone know what the problem is?Why does my car keep blowing the ignitio fuse?i own a repair shop, and some where you have a wire crossed on it or it has one that has went to ground basically a short in it,but that's what causes them to blow fuses either that or its trying to draw way to much voltage from it,and that will also cause it,but you need to look at the old steering column and see if the color codes matched up good on the columns, that would be a good starting point with it,good luck maybe this will help .
Why does my car keep blowing the ignitio fuse?
It'll be a dead short in your wiring harness, probably from the new steering column.

You're going to need to disconnect the main power and use an Ohmmeter to check every connection back until you find the problem.
Why does my car keep blowing the ignitio fuse?
Since you have %26quot;modified%26quot; the car, I suggest that you refer to a QUALITY repair manual, and inspect the wiring diagrams for vehicles with and without C/C, and check the harness plugs for proper wiring orientation. It appears that you might have a wire or two crossed.
It sounds like a mismatched harness connector...even though the connectors may look the same, often the column connector has different pins assigned to the wiring pattern.

Also, the ignition switch itself may have a broken contact in it that is causing a %26quot;live short%26quot; across to another terminal.

    Drivers changing cars?

I always though it would be interesting to see what the really good drivers would do in the cars that dont run so well, and the not so good drivers drive the cars that do well. That would tell me if these guys that finish bad every week really know how to drive or if it is the car. For example: Put Gordon, Stewart, Johnson in someone like Pettys or dale jarrets car. Does anyone think that would be a good idea, just to see what happens? THe only reason I though about it is because I dont always think it is the driver. I beleive that sometimes it is the car and crew that make them finish bad.Drivers changing cars? That is an interesting idea. We all know it takes both the crew and the driver to run a good race. That is why the winner always gives credit to his crew members. It would be interesting to put the best drivers in a car at random and the other drivers in their car. I bet we would see some different results.

Though it will never happen, it is an interesting idea. I do think that there is something to what you say. I think there is a whole combination of factors involved with winning and losing teams and drivers.

I agree with you. Put the %26quot;so-called%26quot; greatest in the po boys cars and give the little guys real cars for a change.

Or how about this - give everybody the same equipment - exactly the same cars, engines, everything. Just sit back and watch the show. They would have one great race.

How about equal equipment and a superspeedway race without restrictor plates or maybe just let them go 30-40mph faster with a little tweeking. Back in the day, the good old boys raced Daytona and averaged 170mph+. I would love to see that considering how much safer the barriers are, the COT's have the foam in the doors, the HANS, the safety harnesses designs have been improved etc... I know I am dreaming but Daytona is my superbowl!!!
I've always wondered this same thing, and I think its a great idea, but it will never happen.

BUT look at Mark Martin. He went from being a top dog at Roush, to driving for a brand new, lower level team, and look how he's done! I bet had he not missed any races, he would be in the top 5 in points.

So I think that most of the time it depends on the driver, but there are some teams that just can't be helped, no matter who they put in the car.
my wife says, the team owners are the cause because they fund the equipment that the drivers and teams need to succeed, therefore its not the driver but the owner who causes these discrepancies. i disagree , i believe a good driver can finish well even with crappy equipment, they just cant be forced to every week such as theresa expects jr to do week in and week out.
It is a mixture of good car, good crew, good driver and good luck.
Look at Mark Martin's replacement in the 6 car. That was a chase car last year. Now? a back marker at best. There is part of the answer.
I don't care about the question, my beef with you is why did you chose not to capitalize Dale Jarret. I could understand missing one of the capital letters but both?? Come on. He is a true champion who has done more for Nascar than the other 3 you mention combined.
Well, to give you an idea of if it is the car or the driver, look at the IROC races. All cars are as identical as possible, and the top drivers still dominate.
Yes IROC is like that and sadly so is Cup racing next year with the idiotic COT. A sad day for true race fans.
u r right .. good idea. now to c it happen? wake up gorgeous .. last nt was too good to u.. your dream is a big one..
Put Gordon and or Stewart in most any car in the field and by the mid point of the event they would have it running top 10 or 15.Maybe not as a contender but good and steady.
    might do well
I agree with you. For an example, Michael Waltrip got his only wins with DEI. He was an allstar with that team. When left and went to Bill Davis Racing, he never got a win or a top 5 or 10 again. He also missed 3 races. He know owns his own team. if it wasn't for what happened at Daytona he would be doing a hell of a lot better than now. He got 1 Top 10 this year. This goes to show you that it isn't the driver. It is the crew, cars, and team Michael gets.

In queensland if a car sees a motor bike and still hits it can driver be charged?

2 Cars changed lanes into lane of bikerider

bike rider saw the cars change in front of him and the first car stopping

to avoid being hit by the second car bike rider goes into emergency lane

to avoid hitting first car second car goes into emergency lane also and collides with bike rider

car driver said he saw the bike rider in the emergency lane but still hit him

what can we charge the driver with?

bike is totalled and all riding gear is damaged

insurance has deemed bike rider at fault because he was in the emergency lane

as driver said he saw motor bike rider but the accident was the motor bike riders fault as he was in the emergency laneIn queensland if a car sees a motor bike and still hits it can driver be charged?I'd be very impressed if the car were able to see anything.

    Punctuation is your friend.

I'm not sure anyone in your scenario is going to be charged with anything. I guess they could be charged with unsafe lane change, reckless driving, failure to yield.
In queensland if a car sees a motor bike and still hits it can driver be charged?
Interesting scenario....I don't really understand how the car hit the bike although he know so clearly where the bike was, that just sounds reckless. Why did the first car stop so abruptly? If it was an unforeseen stop, the bike rider was just trying to save himself, and rightly made the manoeuvre into the emergency lane. I tend to think the car that collided with the bike was at fault.

Hey girls, does a guy having a very nice car change your opinion about him at all?

You probably heard how a sweet sports car or somethin picks girls up. Is there any truth in that? Or don't you girls notice? I talking about like a Trans Am..Hey girls, does a guy having a very nice car change your opinion about him at all?Trans Ams are okay performance wise...kinda really ugly. Guys that own and know how to tinker with a really nice, fast car get huge brownie points in my book!

  • I lost my VW key fob. Does anyone know the process for changing the locks on the car?

I lost my VW key fob, and while I think it's somewhere in my apartment building and that I have trustworthy neighbors, I'm still worried about it getting stolen. I was wondering what the whole process is for changing the locks on a VW. Will they have to re-program the internal computer? How much would replacing the locks cost? Any information that can be offered would be appreciated.I lost my VW key fob. Does anyone know the process for changing the locks on the car?Depending upon the year, some VW's only have a driver's door key lock and a trunk lock. If it is a late model with the immobelizer, then if your concern is strickly to prevent the car from being stolen, then just get another key cut and with the remaining keys/fobs, have them programmed to the vehicle. This will prevent the car from being started, but won't prevent them from getting inside the car. You can just replace the drivers door cylinder (if its a late model VW) that comes with its own key and if you're still worried about them getting into the car thru the trunk, disable the trunk (boot) cylinder. I've done this for people and it seems to work well. Most insurance companies will not pay to have the locks replaced.

VW sells a set of locks that are keyed alike: ignition, door, glove box and trunk, but they aren't cheap and depending upon the year of the car you expect to spend anywhere from 1.0 to 3.5 hours of labour at the posted rate, plus the lock set. Lock sets run anywhere from 100.00+ up!

As I said earlier, the best thing I think, is to replace the door lock(s), reprogramme the keys to the car, thus eliminating the possible use of your lost key to steal the vehicle. You can disable the trunk lock so that only the key fob or the trunk switch can open the trunk (boot).

The lock set would require the removal of the door handle(s) to replace the lock, the trunk lock would have to be removed (remove the noise liner on the trunk lid to gain access to the lock retainer and linkage), pop the lock from the glove box door, but the big thing is removal and replacement of the ignition lock cylinder. If you replace the lock in the ignition, you will have to reprogramme the keys to the computer; you cannot do this, it will have to be done by the dealership or a VW specialist that has the VAG scanner with the correct software and is familiar with the proceedure.

I wish you a lot of luck. Best wishes always, a car nut.
I lost my VW key fob. Does anyone know the process for changing the locks on the car?
Call a VW dealer...I'm sure that would be your best info. I lost my keys but I had the Vin number and they were able to make matching keys. (it was a Ford but most dealerships have the same policies) Luck !
I lost my VW key fob. Does anyone know the process for changing the locks on the car?
its cheaper to go to mechanic and get hidden switch put in for fuel pump cutoff/key job is big money

What can i do if the person who i sold my car to refuses to change the car under her name ?

I sold it to my sister and she has created many problems like she used my insurance without my permission in 2 car accidents. U know all that insurance hassle. I've initiated title transfer but she has to finish it, now the insurance is giving me crap cus the car is still under my name. And my sis refuses to cooperate at all so can i just pick up the car from her?? is that legal ??? where can i find it if im allowed to do that ? I dont want her to get me into more trouble. I live in Dallas Tx. SO if anyone could tell me where i can find out my rights and responsibilities please let me know, thanksWhat can i do if the person who i sold my car to refuses to change the car under her name ?Report it stolen. Or just take the car back change the locks and tell her when she decides to put it in her name you will give it back.
What can i do if the person who i sold my car to refuses to change the car under her name ?
    Court, or a lawyer.
What can i do if the person who i sold my car to refuses to change the car under her name ?
    Report it stolen.

Or you can call Vehicle Crimes Squad 214-670-5817 and ask them.
    report it stolen
    Go to a good Lawyer.
This is a Civil Matter. Technically it is still your car. She has to sign the title regardless of if she gave you money for it. You can always stop insurance. I would call the DMV and see what can be done.
call the police- report it stolen. she could be in big doo-doo for fraud.
First of all, drop the car from your insurance. Second of all, send in the %26quot;Release of Liability%26quot; which can be obtained from the DMV. I sold my old college car to a woman, and a year and a half later I get an impound notice from the city of San Jose (I live in the Calif Central Valley) because she abandoned it on the side of a road. The woman never registered the car so I was the last known owner. Thank God that the DMV had record of my %26quot;release of liability%26quot; or else I would have been liable for the towing and impound charges. If your sister gets into an accident and hurts someone in that car, YOU are also liable for the damages and can be sued.
take your car. according to the law, it is under your name and it is YOUR car. if she is being a little b*tch and getting your @ss in trouble by acting like a 12 year old behind the wheel, then she does NOT need to be driving. tell her dumb@ss that she is not to drive that car until she puts the car under HER NAME. Go to a Notary Public and pay the $5-$10 fine (have your sister go with you), and sign it (along with your sister) stating that the car has been sold. This SHOULD take care of your problem; if she refuses to go with you, tell her NO GO, NO CAR!!! She's an idiot and full of sh*t, you should NOT have to put up with this!!!
if you sold it, then you can take it off your insurance, just call the agent. Make sure you have the plates, and notify the dmv about the selling, or transfer of registration. On your original title, there should be a space on the back to notify them of that. After that is done, anything that happens to her or the car is not your responsibility
You can get the ans weer to your problem from a lawyer where you will pay dearly, or you could call the Texas Attorney General's office and seek advice. OR, you might even ask your insurance company.

    Good luck!!
under the law, once you sell a vehicle and write up a bill of sale, the obligation is no longer yours. with a bill of sale, you can show proof whether to insurance or dmv that you no longer own the car. you can contact dmv and let them know you sold the car and she is refusing to title it and has had accidents and they can dicument everything for you. you can also contact your state department of insurance commissionors office at the state capital to let them know you sold the vehicle and canceled the insurance on it and they can contact your company and they will deal with them. how she used your insurance when its under your name you never said. but thats fraud and a felony in any state. i recommend contacting your local pd and state attorney to let them know what she has done as she doesn't seem to care about you except to screw you over. you say you don't want to get her into trouble, she has from what you said commited several frauds and serious felonies and your going to get stuck with it and ruin your life if you don't take care of it.
Tear your license plates off the car and she will have to register it in her name.

How to get rid of dead rat smell from car?

I smell dead rat in my car,I think car died some where in the car or in the engine some where.I changed the car filter cleaned the engine ,but the smell still there .now i put some moth balls in the car but smell is still there.Any one out there who had some tips. How to get rid of dead rat smell from car?Baking powder. Keep a box of it somewhere in your car. It's really good at eliminating smells (most people keep a box in their fridge). You might also want to try some type of air or fabric freshener. Febreeze is good. Good luck!
How to get rid of dead rat smell from car?
Try and find the rat or the base of the smell. Do not use air fresheners or moth balls because that isn't good for people to inhale. Buy a box of good smelling incense, open it up, and just leave it in your car. You don't even have to burn it, but you could if you wanted to.

    I hope that helps
How to get rid of dead rat smell from car?
YOU MIGHT NEED TO CHECK YOUR HVAC TUBES
    take the rat out!
Try baking soda. It helped me with a similar situation! Good luck.
I would find the rat. Check the engine. Check everywhere. You gotta get rid of the source

i have a peugeot and the finance finishes in September. If i want to change to a vauxhall at end of agreement, what do i have to do? Do i have to go through peugeot? What happens if i want to change my car from peugeot to vauxhall at the end of finance agreement? If you're asking whether or not you can trade-in your current Vauxhall vehicle for a Peugeot vehicle, of course you may. You needn't even wait until you've fully paid for your existing vehicle. Any amount you may still owe will be deducted from the vehicle's trade-in value when you acquire the new vehicle to satisfy the loan obligation.

From there, you may finance the vehicle through Peugeot or any other lender who may be willing to finance you purchase.

Do you have to change the car title as soon as you buy it?

Lets say that I want to buy and fix cars and sell them for a profit. I live in texas by the way. Do I have to change the title to my name before I sell the car? Is it illegal if I sell it without ever changing it to my name?Do you have to change the car title as soon as you buy it?Dealing in %26quot;open%26quot; titles is technically illegal. (Ive done it dozens of times)

If your name is written in the back of it, you MUST change it over and wait on the title before you can sell it. (Unless you find a buyer who will buy it without a title)

If not, you may be able to sell it as if you are the original owner...but if %26amp; only if the only thing that appears on the back of the title is the registered owners signature.

There cant be multiple transfers or anything like that.

And you would have to fake a bill of sale pretending to be the original owner.

Again, its illegal. but happens all the time. Ive never heard of anyone going to jail over it.

Worst case scenario ? They make you pay what the taxes would have been and then fine you a few hundred dollars. (Assuming you haven't be caught doing it before)

Depsite the scare tactics of some posters, you arent going to jail over title jumping. But it is illegal, just like going 1 mph over the speed limit.
Do you have to change the car title as soon as you buy it?
%26quot;Title jumping%26quot; is very much illegal.

Curbstoners do it to avoid paying taxes and to sell more cars than allowed by law.

Just like everything in life, you have to weight the pros and cons. Is not paying taxes worth being fined and jailed if caught? Only you can answer that.
Do you have to change the car title as soon as you buy it?
if you plan to deal in cars you need a license from the state of Texas ... you need a tax certificate, a business license, and a dealers license ----- skip all the above and the state catches up with you and you will owe lots in tax revenue ..... I think there is a limit to the number of cars that you can handle with out these licenses ==== you will be well advised to call the DMV and talk all this over with the %26quot;%26quot;%26quot;clerk%26quot;%26quot;%26quot; ==== the dealer License will permit you to have blanket insurance to drive and show the cars and this will protect you from being in a law suit ... you can also talk to the TX Highway Patrol and get answers === please do not mess around with trying to do a shade tree business -- the State of Texas will find you (( or a dissatisfied customer will turn you in to the tax dudes.... respectfully ... a word to the wise...
Then you need to become a licensed car dealer. If you don't, you will have to title and register each vehicle in your name before you can sell it.
It is against the law. Not only that it is fraud. Most state the law says if you have the intent to make a profit you needs a dealers license. Between Licenses, Location, required insurance, and all the other crap you need to be legal, plan on spending about $10,000 a month.

This is pretty much standard in every state.

How can i change stock car radio but still have the steering wheel controls work?

I just bought a 1998 monte carlo, and while i love a good tape deck, i need a cd player in there. but i love steering my wheel controls but cant seem to find anything anywhere that says how to make them work with a new unit. I had a similar problem with my acura. im sure this all may depend on what stereo im going to be putting in there, but has anyone been able to achieve these results? How can i change stock car radio but still have the steering wheel controls work? They are many companies that make adapters that will integrate the steering wheel controls into a new aftermarket unit. You just have to make sure your car's wiring has the ability to be controlled by something other than the factory radio and, if you purchase a new unit, that it has a wired remote input on the back of the unit.

For that, there are not too many units out there available for that and it may take some research on your part to find both a unit that can do a wired control and a part to integrate your controls.

*Edit...here is a link to a company and part for controls. They have a list of radios you can get to use with it.

go to a salvage yard or junk yard and get one that has a cd player from the factory out of a monte carlo ,the plug ins will be the same and will fit like it came that way.that's the easiest way to go.

Changing insurance to keep a car on campus?

i'm in college and i need to keep my car on campus for a few months. i am living in an apartment on campus but the car is registered at my house. do i need to change anything on the insurance? or can i keep it the way it is, since it's only temporary? i live in pennsylvania.Changing insurance to keep a car on campus?Anything more than 30 days you should notify the company regarding the change in the garaged location. It's possible, as another person indicated, that if you were in a relatively expensive area to insure (like Philly, which has very high rates) and are in a better area rate-wise you might have a lower premium for a little while. Worth checking into, unless of course you're going to school in Philly, and that will increase your policy quite a bit.
Changing insurance to keep a car on campus?
I would just leave it thats what ive been doing its too much of an hassel to change it all... But do what you want.. The only reason they want to know where the vehicle housing w/e is soo if your car gets stolen or if you done something illegal same with ur licence but it shouldnt matter
Changing insurance to keep a car on campus?
most insurance companies consider you to still live at home even if you are away at college because it's not considered a permanent move.Your insurance should stay the same.
Up to you, but if you change the location of the car and say that the distance you usually drive it has gone down, it will lower your payment.

I didn't change mine in College though because I didn't care.
The insurance company needs to have the address where the vehicle is principally garaged. On campus, your insurance could possibly go down slightly.
if you are a freshman.. you cannot have a car on campus

if you are not a freshman, yes the insurance needs to know that the car will parked nightly on campus .. even for a few months

When do I have to change car's clutch? On average?

My car is Ford Festiva 1.3 litre, made in 1999. Manual. Thanks. When do I have to change car's clutch? On average?depends on how you drive, my grandfather has got a 1990 hiace, done almost 400,000kms on the original clutch. the van was always fully loaded, he had to unload a lot of tools out of it before taking it for a service as the hoists couldn't lift it it weighed that much, behind it he use to tow 30,000lt milk vans to farms, (was a refrigeration mechanic) so still after all these years, towing all that weight and that many kms the original clutch is still going strong. if you are doing stop start traffic the clutch life will be less. if you are someone who slips the clutch more than you need to you will wear it out quick.
When do I have to change car's clutch? On average?
yes al depends on how u drive ur car and of course if your going to be towing trailors etc its certainly going to have an effect on ur clutches life, normalyy cars clutch can last up to 10 years

Could a change of car battery possibly affect AM radio reception?

I had the battery changed on my '96 Explorer last week, from an Interstate to a Motorcraft. Maybe it's my imagination or some other problem but I've noticed a tremendous increase in static while listening to may favorite local AM talk-radio station.

Any possibility that the change of brand could be the cause? Thanks!Could a change of car battery possibly affect AM radio reception?Sometimes a mechanic will forget to re-attach the 'static suppressors' that are tied into the hot (+) circuit or remove them. This causes the spark sound on an AM radio.

Chances are they were part of the old battery's wires, and got tossed. If they are gone, you can pick these up at any auto parts place.

In some vehicles it is simply a capacitor tied between the body of the car and the 'hot side' of the battery
Could a change of car battery possibly affect AM radio reception?
i just got new alternator and my radio now sucks...id think battery has no effect but who knows,,,i dont
Could a change of car battery possibly affect AM radio reception?
It is far more likely that the installation is the problem. Check to see that everything is tight you may need new leads to the battery terminals. Doubtful that it is the brand.
ive heard of that happening before... If someone else changed your batt....maybe they put it on backwards for asec! check the fuses
no it shouldn't matter on the type of battery. check your antenna connection or the back of your deck

but the changeover of the battery won't affect the radio

What can I do about my car dealer who wrecked my car (while oil changing I was in wating room).?

I didn't drive. They gave me a rental car and sent my car to somewhere to fix my car. That's it. They are not paying any side money or they didn't even gave me free oil change or something. Is this right?

I'm worried about my car value now because of the accident.

I'm 21yr old so i don't have any this kind of experience.

What can I do?What can I do about my car dealer who wrecked my car (while oil changing I was in wating room).?They should fix your car.

You didn't say what kind of damage was done but it probably was some kind of low speed accident if it was in the dealer's parking lot.
What can I do about my car dealer who wrecked my car (while oil changing I was in wating room).?
If they wrecked your car they should be held responsible. If you can prove they did it then you need to contact a lawyer.
What can I do about my car dealer who wrecked my car (while oil changing I was in wating room).?
    tell him to fix it
    you can try suing them
sue you really need to get a lawyer RIGHT NOW! and sue the company
can you proof this it sounds like you need to see a lawyer
If the car is 100% fixed when you get it back, then how would the value change??? You're being a little irrational, unless it was a classic (antique) type car. Parts are easy to get and paint to dealer spec.

The dealer doesn't OWE you anything besides a car in the same condition that you dropped it off in. You've been covered in the rental. If the car comes back looking just fine, you will have little chance of any legal claim for a %26quot;bonus%26quot; like you're asking for.
Go to the BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair) and report them. They will have resources to help you.
You should have called the police when the accident occured. You may have a tough time without an accident report, but my advice is to see a lawyer. Just like everyone else is saying. Threaten a lawsuit, and you should get some results.
Don't know what you can do now ,but i would of back out of the deal , there is a grace period when you can do this, i always ask for compensation with any situation like this. tell them to compensate you are you will have to talk to a lawyer, they will pro ably do something for you ,know what you want when you talk to them.
File an insurance claim, your agent will go after them to fix it!
if the company accept the charges of wrecking your car then you have no problem they will fix it for you however if the situation not as mentioned then you must talk to a lawyer.
It sounds like they are doing the reasonable thing. If the damage was only cosmetic to the body of the car the value will not be decreased. If the damage was to the frame or engine you should get an estimate of the amount of the decrease in value, which will also depend on the age of the car, and ask for additional payment.

What is the physics behind car crashes?

We did this test in physics where we crashed cars into walls and other cars. I was wondering how you would explain what happens during a car crash, and what variables can you change to change the car crash. I know that mass and acceleration are two variables. Any help would be appreciated. What is the physics behind car crashes?I am on the faculty of a science museum, and we do this sort of thing all the time.

Let's keep it a bit simple and apply a car crash to Newton's Three Laws of motion.

    1) A body at rest will remain at rest and a body in motion will remain in motion in a straight line until acted upon by an outside force.

---When a car crashes into something, even if the front part of the car has been stopped, the back part of the car is continuing in a straight line. This is why cars crumple in.

    2) Force = Mass times Acceleration

The greater the mass of the crashing car, the greater the resulting force. Same thing for the Acceleration. The more acceleration inherent in the car, the greater the force. Of course, if two cars are heading straight for each other, the Accelerations are added. Which is why head-on collisions are so frightful.

    3) For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. If the car exerts a force on a wall, then the wall exerts an equal and opposite force back onto the car. (Otherwise the car wouldn't get damaged at all.

That's probably the main thing your teacher's wanting to get you to understand.

But here are a few other things that could be taught when discussing collisions:

--Heat created by the friction of the two cars smashing into each other.

--Coefficients of friction if the car tried to break before the impact.

--Projectile and trajectory if there was someone in the car who gets thrown out of the car.

Anyway, I hope that's all helpful.

What is the physics behind car crashes?
inertia, kinetic energy, potential energy, momentum
What is the physics behind car crashes?
Car crashes are frequently used as teaching tools to reveal the relationship between momentum, energy, velocity and mass. Generally all the kinetic energy (陆mv虏) is turned into heat unless there is some residual velocity after the crash. Momentum (m*v) is always conserved and equal to the average force*time of a collision.
    Energy absorbing design.

Side crashes - sills need to be designed so's to keep the impacting car down and out of the side windows.

Mass and acceleration are not really variables - as impact tests are at specified speeds. Deceleration rates are the most important as they relate to the energy absorbing design, hence the time rate change of velocity.

The slower the time rate change of velocity is - the safer it is for the passengers.

All of Newton's Laws apply. Those being, %26quot;An object in motion will stay in motion,%26quot; %26quot;An object at rest will stay at rest,%26quot; and %26quot;Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

    Variables include:

    Mass

    Velocity

    Acceleration

    Friction

    Air Resistance

Gravity (although not exactly a variable)

    Angle of impact

    Intertia

    Momentum

    Hope I helped!
Hey Ace... I'm curious as to why you're asking this question (considering your previous question). Please be ok, ok? :-)
