Can one convert an automatic tran. for a manual in a used car?

I have a 2004 Acura TL that was just given but I prefer a manual transmission. Can I get the car changed to have a stick shift. I realise the implcation and the amount of work involved. How much would this cost me?/Is it worth it?Can one convert an automatic tran. for a manual in a used car?Well it's unnecessary as the TL already has a manumatic meaning you can shift it as well.

i own a repair shop and i have changed a Honda civic over before and it cost around 1500 bucks for everything to do it with, and around 800 labor on doing this ,i told the man it was going to cost more than the car was worth but he said do it,so you don't argue with the customer, but it turned out well if i ever do another one though i,ll try and buy a good parts car to do it from, its cheaper and faster this way but yes you can do it,its not a real hard job, but consumes a lot of time to get it right, good luck with i,hope this helps.

Yes you can do it but its not worth the time and money.
You have to ask yourself if it's really worth it? On a car 3 years old it would be better just to sell it and buy another that is already a manual. Your talking close to $2000 to pay a autobody shop to do this and you will void any warranty that the car might still have. I've switched from a manual to an automatic and this was a pain in the a## in the 80's Todays cars have a lot more sensors and electronics attached to the transmissions to optimize performance.

I would strongly suggest selling the car and buying what you really want so you'll have the reliablity and peace of mind that you should expect from a quality car built by Honda..
