Can I just keep putting oil in my car instead of changing it?

I drive a 2002 Cadillac DeVille and the manual says to change the oil every 5000 miles. But as with most Caddy's, it leaks oil. I put in about a quart every 2 weeks or 2 fill ups at the pump. So 2 quarts a month of high quality synthetic oil. Can I just keep putting in new oil or should I have the oil changed? Is this bad for the car? I mean it is fresh oil getting mixed with the old.Can I just keep putting oil in my car instead of changing it?NO!

You should always change oil as stated in the manual. I change mine every 3k mi. Also, you should fix the oil leak. Try and find where the leak is, if it is external. If it is just disappearing, the leak is internal. Fixed leak or not, change the oil.

Perpetual oil change?

At least change the filter.

if that bad of a leak you need to fix or have someone fix for you then change the oil and the oil filter. yes you still need to change the oil and the filter to prevent engine damage.
Fix the leak, then you still would need to change the oil, and filter, as the filter can still be clogged up anyways.
well if you're putting in 2 quarts a month, then yeah you're really keeping your oil pretty clean I guess, although you want to change the oil filter ever 5K or so. You seem to act as if this type of oil leak is normal..it's not. You've got a big problem.
I've had a few cars like this.

Either fix the leak or keep wasting your money - it's your call.
If your car is using that much oil then don't change it. Using synthetic isn't recommend because it leaks faster. Use a heavy duty oil like 30w I am not sure about caddy engines but even a 15w 40 or 20w 50 would leak slower. A engine leaking like yours, a heavy duty oil shouldn't make a difference when it comes to compression. a heavy weight should increase compression. The only thing is some cars are harder to start with this oil except the 30 w.
You have a bad oil leak or the engine is burning some seriousl oil. Either way, you should get it looked at. With a leak that bad, save your money and use conventional oil. Synthetic is expensive.

also once you get your leak fixed and if you continue to use synthetic, you can change the oil and filter at 7500 miles. Waste of money to change synthetic oil before 7500 miles.
If you want longer life from your engine, get the oil changed!!!!! changing the oul reduces friction that the engine puts off better than old oil. running old oil is not dependible and will eventually cost you to invest money into the engine which may be better to just buy a new engine. so CHANGE THE OIL!!!!!!!!!!! and have your oil lines looked at!!!! check around the seals!
