If a car is changing direction and also decreasing speed, is this car accelerating in "Physics"?

In physics, you are accelerating when you change speed, or when you change direction.

So, if you are changing direction AND decreasing speed (which is the same as changing speed, the change could be up or down), then you are accelerating.

By definition any change in speed and / or direction is acceleration. Slow down acceleration. Speed up acceleration. Deceleration is acceleration. Change direction speed constant acceleration. Change direction speed up- acceleration. Change direction slow down-you got it acceleration.

Well in order for a car to change directions, it must go from a certain speed to 0 then the opposite side of that initial speed (i.e. 5mph to 0 to -5 mph) so if a car is both changing directions AND decreasing in speed, that would mean is is going from a poitive, crossing 0, and then a negative. So yes, you will be accelerating, but in a negative manner, which in basic terms would be decelerating, but decelerating is just the negative of acceleration, i.e. -5 m/s^2(decelerating) 5 m/s^2(accelerating). Both are forms of acceleration.
